T-Ball (Ages 5-6)

Teams are formed by the league commissioner/coaches. The league is designed as a non-competitive introduction to baseball. Batters will hit using a tee all season and may take as many attempts as necessary to hit a ball into play (no strike outs). If batters are able to be pitched to, we will allow coaches to throw up to 4 pitches to the batter. Coaches will be on the field during games to provide instruction and encouragement throughout the game. We do not keep score or record wins/losses. (2 practices or games per week) Practices will be held at Smith, Gorrell and Franklin Elementary Fields as well as MYSA Fields. Games will be played at MYSA fields.  Minimum 6-7 games.

8U (Coach Pitch)

We continue with coaches pitching, but batters are able to strike out at this level. Wins/losses are recorded for seeding teams in the season-ending tournament. (2-3 practices or games per week). Minimum 8-9 games.

10U (Kid Pitch)

The league is more competitive with players pitching for the first time.  Our Massillon teams will compete against teams from surrounding communities. Wins/losses are recorded for seeding teams in the season-ending tournament.  (Practice and Game schedule will vary week to week) Minimum 11-12 games.

12U (Kid Pitch)

Our Massillon teams will compete against teams from surrounding communities. Wins/losses are recorded for seeding teams in the season-ending tournament. (Practice and Game schedule will vary week to week) Minimum 11-12 games.

14U (Kid Pitch)

Our Massillon teams will compete against teams from surrounding communities. Due to us not having our own field we will still offer this level of baseball, however we will not have home games. All games for this level will be away games. Wins/losses are recorded for seeding teams in the season-ending tournament. (Practice and Game schedule will vary week to week) Minimum 11-12 games. Due to our Baseball complex not fit for this age level practices and home games will take place at a city park in Massillon.

How are teams formed?

MYSA spring baseball is a recreational sport program with the focus on learning and having fun. Adults that choose to volunteer their time to coach will be selecting their teams from the list of players. We do allow siblings and friends to play together as long as that information is communicated to our director no later than the last day of registration. Following that date we will not accept requests for coaches or friends. If more than one coach requests a specific player the parent will be contacted to make the decision. If one team has to many players, the league director along with coaches will decide how to split the team members up. Please note that we attempt to keep teams together as much as possible from season to season. If we lose a coach for whatever reason that team will not stay together and the kids will be placed back on the master list for the coaches to choose from. If you wish for your child to be removed from a team for the next season we will also honor that request unless we do not have enough spots available to move your child.

NOTE: You are registering your child to play spring baseball, we do not issue refunds if your child is not on the team they or you wish to be on. We will honor all requests that are possible as long as they are submitted in the correct time frame and conditions as listed above.

AS IN ALL SPORTS TEAMS WILL NOT BE EVEN, THERE WILL BE TEAMS/PLAYERS THAT ARE BETTER OR NOT AS GOOD AS OTHER TEAMS/PLAYERS. THAT IS THE REALITY OF SPORTS.
