Health Awareness & Resources for Parents
PARENT’S/SPECTATOR’S CODE OF ETHICS MYSA
- I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, league directors and officials at every game, practice, or other youth sports event.
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my child ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will not reflect on MYSA, my child’s team, coaches and representatives in a negative way directly or indirectly to any official, manager, league director or organization.
- I will not post negative comments about MYSA (its directors, teams and volunteers), the leagues we play in and or the directors of those leagues on social media. I will support coaches and officials working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
- I will not interfere with the coaches, officials, or league director in treating my child in the event of an injury. I understand that if further treatment is required or if it is serious, I will be notified immediately.
- I will refrain from yelling or making negative comments (whether in person or through other means) to the players, coaches, officials, scorekeeper, league directors, athletic directors, board members and/or scorekeepers.
- I understand that profanity, yelling, obscene gestures, violence, or threats of violence will not be tolerated and will lead to me being removed from the building/facility and not permitted back until a meeting is held with MYSA directors. A call to the local authorities for more serious offenses.
- I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and will refrain from their use at all MYSA events.
- I will remember that the game is for youth – not for adults.
- I will do the very best to make the youth sports experience fun for my child.
- I will not physically discipline my child at any MYSA event.
- I will not leave my child unattended unless they are under the direct supervision of the coach and the coach is aware that your child is present.
- I will help my child enjoy the youth sports experience by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectful fan, assisting with coaching and being supportive of coach decisions.
- I will treat other players, coaches, fans, officials, league directors and spectators with respect and will teach my child to do the same.
- I will adhere to the specific rules and regulations at all sites and understand that dogs/pets are not permitted at any MYSA events. ZERO TOLERANCE
- I will adhere to the specific rules and regulations at all sites and refrain from smoking, vaping, the use of marijuana, chewing tobacco, alcohol and any other drugs at all MYSA events. ZERO TOLERANCE
- I will adhere to the specific rules and regulations at all sites and refrain from bringing weapons, guns, knives etc… to any MYSA event. They are not permitted on our property or school grounds ZERO TOLERANCE
- I will follow the 24hr rule when approaching a coach. This means that if I as a parent feel the need to speak with the coach I must wait 24hr following a game, our coaches will not meet with parents after games.
- I understand that only the parent/guardian can contact a MYSA director or coach with a concern or question about the person I am registering.
- I will follow the chain of command when issues arise: Head Coach – MYSA Specific Sport Director – MYSA Athletic Director -MYSA Board of Directors. At no point and time will I contact any league or tournament director that MYSA participates in or attends for any reason.
The above code of ethics will apply to ALL spectators/visitors, it is the responsibility of the person registering the child to inform all parties that would or could attend a game, practice or event of the above guidelines.
Failure to adhere to the above parent/spectators code of ethics may result in suspension from MYSA events and activities with or without warning.
MYSA General Facility Policies
The following policies are in effect for all games, matches, meets, practices & events that involve MYSA unless otherwise posted on individual sport pages or at facilities.
Policies:
- No Smoking or Vaping of any kind
- No Drugs or Alcohol of any kind
- No weapons, this includes knives & firearms
- No Pets and Dogs (service animals permitted)
Failure to adhere to the above policy will result in you being asked to leave the premises. If you fail to leave law enforcement will be contacted and the current game, match, meet, practice and or event will be stopped until they arrive or you leave the premises. There are no exceptions to this policy.
